Newsletter #005

Updated: Aug 12

Hi, everyone!

Gaia 0 Cover

This week comes with amazing news. Something I've been anxiously wanting to share with you all for a while now. Back in February, about a week after "Dimensional" was published, I got in touch with a team that has been properly doing their part to expand the limits of contemporary Latin-American literature. After a few exchanges, I was granted the honor of becoming part of their family of authors. It is with great pleasure, I announce to you that I am now a Published Author in the house of La Pereza Ediciones.

We are currently working on a new edition of "La Leyenda del Recordatorio de los Dioses" (as you can already see from the cover image) and the plan is to continue the saga, which is a pretty big endeavor. To honor that, I chose to make two brand-new illustrations for the book, only available in this new edition. It will soon be ready for purchase everywhere, including some of the local bookstores within the Dominican Republic, and hopefully in the future, to the rest of the Hispanic world.

It will be through your help that we can get this book beyond these borders and really bring this story to light. Considering that many of you are the inspiration to the characters in the whole saga, this great achievement is as much mine as it is yours. I sincerely thank you all for your support over the years, and encourage you to continue doing so. Share this with your friends and family and lets all grow together.

Here's a small video with all the Illustrations, including the new ones. You can also check them out HERE and enjoy your time with each image. It is certainly a great feeling to draw again for this story. I've been waiting for this moment for a while now. And I tell you this as I work on the next installment of the saga, Gaia 1. More on that will come soon, but for now, be attentive for the release of this new edition of Gaia 0.

And now...

The Shared Madness!

Here is where Dominican artists all over the world get a bit of love from me. I take my time to look for other fellow islanders in the world of the arts around the globe, hoping to bring you the precious relics found, so y'all can go and show them some love as well. So look for this section in the future, if you want to add some color to your week.

This segment of the newsletter will also highlight some of the upcoming events happening mostly in Santo Domingo. In the future, expect to see events happening nationwide, or even worldwide. This being the first one, let's work our way up, as we say "Sin prisa, sin peros, sin pausa" (no hurry, no buts, no pause).

HIGHLIGHT

Yermine Richardson

Dominican artist, living in Barcelona.

About a week ago, this artist shared this beautiful interaction with an elementary art teacher. The TLDR of it all is, she found his work, fell in love, and then used that as reference in class, having kids (ages 4-10, and their parents even) try out the style using other materials, resulting in a really synesthetic experience. It truly shows how far can art go and the reach of our influence as artists.

But it is also a testament to the quality of his particular craft and work. His experimentation with color and contrast is impressive to say the least. A path to enrich the depiction of his heritage as a way to open a wonderful dialog on what it is to embrace one's roots, and the history of beauty that comes with it.

Yermine Richardson

As mentioned prior, Yermine resides in Barcelona, where his latest showings have proudly been a success. Here in the picture we can see him posing next to one of his paintings at MECA Art Fair (April 2024). Here at the Madness, we wish him a bright and fulfilling future where his art continues to reach new horizons. May the challenges become the source of strength that pushes the door open for inspiration and creation!

You can find them on Instagram as @popcaribe.

That is all for today's newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily if you haven't yet and, embrace #theMadness in you!

Irie bless!
