  • Unveiling the Essence of 'theMadness' in Artistic Expression Techniques

Hello there! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by because today, we’re diving deep into something truly fascinating - the essence of theMadness in art. Now, before you raise an eyebrow or wonder what on earth I’m talking about, let me assure you this is going to be a journey worth taking. Whether you’re an art collector, a lover of unique jewelry, or someone who simply adores original storytelling, there’s something here for you. So, grab a cup of your favorite drink, get comfy, and let’s explore together! Exploring Artistic Expression Techniques: A Gateway to Creativity Artistic expression techniques are the heart and soul of any creative work. They’re the tools artists use to communicate emotions, ideas, and stories that words alone often can’t capture. From brush strokes on canvas to the intricate design of a handcrafted necklace, these techniques breathe life into art. Take, for example, the use of mixed media . Combining different materials like metal, fabric, and paint can create textures that invite touch and evoke feelings. Or consider negative space in visual art, where the empty areas around a subject highlight its form and meaning. These techniques aren’t just about aesthetics; they’re about connection. If you’re a collector, understanding these methods can deepen your appreciation of a piece. You’ll see beyond the surface and into the artist’s mind. And if you’re a fan of storytelling, you’ll notice how these techniques help narrate tales without uttering a single word. Mixed media artwork showcasing layered textures and vibrant colors The Role of 'theMadness' in Artistic Innovation Now, here’s where things get really interesting. You might have heard the term theMadness floating around in art circles. It’s not just a catchy phrase; it’s a concept that embodies the wild, untamed creativity that pushes boundaries. When artists embrace theMadness , they allow themselves to break free from conventions and explore new realms of expression. Imagine an artist who blends chaos and order, light and shadow, tradition and rebellion. That’s theMadness in action. It’s the spark that ignites innovation and originality. And it’s exactly what I channel through my work, inviting you to experience art in a way that’s both provocative and deeply personal. If you want to see this concept in motion, check out theMadness . It’s a platform that showcases this unique artistic vision, connecting creators and admirers worldwide. Trust me, it’s a treasure trove for anyone passionate about art that challenges the norm. How Artistic Expression Techniques Shape Unique Jewelry and Storytelling Let’s zoom in on something close to many hearts - unique jewelry. Jewelry isn’t just adornment; it’s wearable art. The techniques used to craft these pieces often mirror those found in larger art forms, but with an intimate twist. For instance, lost-wax casting allows jewelers to create intricate designs that seem almost alive. This technique involves sculpting a model in wax, then casting it in metal, capturing every delicate detail. It’s a perfect example of how traditional methods meet artistic innovation. Then there’s enameling , where powdered glass is fused to metal under high heat, adding vibrant color and texture. This technique can tell stories through patterns and hues, making each piece a narrative in itself. How about micro-macramé ? The versatility this technique brings is not only impressive, but also infinite. It opens an uncanny world of creation that withstands time and wear like no other. With the use of waxed thread and precious stones, stories unimaginable can be told and kept for generations to come. Storytelling in jewelry also comes through symbolism. A pendant might represent a personal journey, a ring could embody a promise, and a bracelet might celebrate heritage. When combined with artistic expression techniques, these pieces become more than accessories - they become cherished stories worn close to the heart. Handcrafted unique jewelry piece with intricate design. Made for a Madness Lover. Practical Tips for Collectors and Enthusiasts to Engage with Artistic Expression So, how can you, as someone who appreciates art and unique creations, engage more deeply with these artistic expression techniques? Here are some practical tips: Research the Artist’s Process - Understanding how a piece was made adds layers to your appreciation. Look for interviews, documentaries, or artist statements. Attend Exhibitions and Workshops - Nothing beats seeing art in person or even trying your hand at a technique. Many galleries and studios offer interactive experiences. Support Emerging Artists - They often experiment boldly with techniques and concepts like theMadness . Your support helps keep innovation alive. Curate Thoughtfully - When collecting, consider how pieces speak to each other. A well-curated collection tells a story and reflects your unique taste. Engage with Online Communities - Platforms like theMadness connect you with artists and fellow enthusiasts worldwide, enriching your journey. By embracing these steps, you’ll not only enhance your collection but also deepen your connection to the art and stories behind each piece. Embracing the Future of Artistic Expression and Connection As we wrap up this exploration, I want to leave you with a thought - art is ever-evolving, and so are the ways we experience it. The fusion of traditional techniques with bold concepts like theMadness opens doors to new worlds. Whether through a striking painting, a unique piece of jewelry, or a compelling story, artistic expression continues to inspire and unite us. TheMadness, through my vision, is a shining example of this evolution. It’s a call to embrace creativity without limits and to share that passion with a global audience. So, keep exploring, keep collecting, and most importantly, keep feeling the art that moves you. That is all for this blog post, share it with your friends and family. • Newsletter #015 - New prints, A new show in Korea and much more...

Good day to you all, my dearest #MadnessLovers! The week is almost over, and the month is just beginning, but things are moving forward with intent. Here’s a brief recap of what has happened and what’s on the horizon. Exciting Changes on the Website There have been some significant changes to the website. We now have a translated version in Japanese, and who knows? Maybe someday other languages will join the mix! There are also updates in the store. We’ve added new, selected quality prints that I’m really excited about. As of now, all original illustrations will only be sold after direct contact with me. They won’t be available in the store, but their prices will be visible in the description of each image within the portfolio. Soon, more products will be available in the store, including a new line of crazy t-shirts featuring messages from yours truly. I’m also selecting stones for the next jewelry collection, ensuring a busy schedule for the holiday season. Welcome to the Wolf's Art Den For those who don’t know what the "Wolf's Art Den" is, let me explain. This is a creative space located in Takao, Kaga, Ishikawa, where I now reside. It’s a small school for those who wish to learn drawing and macramé. Soon, its doors will open to all you enthusiasts! In the future, there will also be a program for students outside the region and even foreign students. This program will include accommodations and, at some point, it will open its doors to other creative minds and artists through a residency program. I created a little video to show how the space is evolving. It’s looking pretty sharp, if I may say so! I’ve had some visitors come and enjoy the space. Many are eagerly waiting for the "grand opening" to join the courses available and become part of this project. I’m working hard on creating a dedicated space for the den within the website. It’s currently in the works, but in the meantime, you can follow the den on Instagram to stay updated on all the news regarding this creative space. Upcoming Exhibition in South Korea Next up! Starting this Monday, November 10th, I will be part of the "Woohyun Overseas Artist Exhibition" happening in Incheon, South Korea. I’ll be traveling to this beautiful country and capturing some pictures of the show to share on social media later. Unfortunately, I won’t arrive in time for the opening, but if you’re in the region, don’t hesitate to drop by and check out the wonderful art pieces my colleagues and I have selected for your visual pleasure. This might just be my last show of the year, but it opens many opportunities for the years to come. As I try to reach further, I hope to have more shows in the Asian region next year. As always, I’ll keep you updated on these events and hope for your unconditional support as I continue down this road. The Journey to GAIA 1 On another note, I’m currently working on the storyboard for GAIA 1. This is the follow-up to GAIA 0 (also known as "La Leyenda del Recordatorio de los Dioses"), and let me tell you, it’s big! So big that you can expect GAIA 1 to be divided into two books. This had already been foreseen, and it’s the case for all subsequent volumes. So, saying that the saga is big at this point would be a bit redundant, wouldn’t it? It’s still unclear when I’ll begin the illustrations or whether the books will be published independently. Regardless, I want you to know that it remains one of my main priorities. Being such a long project, it’s expected to take a lot of time to achieve. But the best part? Nothing is stopping me from moving forward! As I work on this storyboard, I’m also revising and preparing to begin the polishing process for GAIA 2. I wish to not have too much time pass between volumes, unlike the 15 years it took between 0 and 1 (yeah, I know). Who knows? Maybe I’ll even share some snippets of the books in the future! Sharing the Creative Process Many new things are happening in the background. I may not talk much about my processes or show much regarding them, but I’m trying to change that. I want to allow myself to be more open to sharing unfinished works, sketches, and unpolished pieces. It’s a mindset I need to get into. Little by little, you’ll get to see and maybe even get involved with the madness in the making. To be honest, these newsletters are part of that process. That’s all for Newsletter 015. Please share it with your friends and family. Have a wonderful week! Remember to join theFamily if you haven’t yet. To continue growing our community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted on Instagram, featuring exclusive interactions and first looks at what we have cooking. Never forget to embrace #theMadness in you! Irie Bless!

  • Mastering Micro-Macramé Jewelry Techniques

Hey there, Madness Lovers! I’m so excited you’re here because today we're trying a new format that will be added to the news blog. I know this month's Newsletter is over due but I've been very busy with a lot of things that soon will be shared with you. Today we’re diving deep into the enchanting world of micro-macramé jewelry techniques . If you’ve ever been mesmerized by those tiny, intricate knots that transform simple cords into stunning wearable art, you’re in the right place. I’ll walk you through everything from the basics to some insider tips that will have you crafting your own masterpieces in no time. Ready? Let’s untangle this beautiful craft together! Getting Started with Micro-Macramé Jewelry Techniques Micro-macramé is a delicate form of macramé that focuses on creating small, detailed pieces—think bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. Unlike traditional macramé, which often uses thicker cords and larger knots, micro-macramé uses fine threads and tiny knots to achieve intricate patterns and textures. Here’s what you’ll need to get started: Cord or thread: Nylon, waxed polyester, or cotton threads work beautifully. The thinner, the better for micro-macramé. Beads and charms: These add personality and sparkle to your pieces. A sturdy base: A clipboard, corkboard, or even a macramé board to hold your work steady. Basic tools: Scissors, tweezers, and a lighter for finishing. The magic lies in mastering a few essential knots like the square knot, half hitch, and lark’s head knot. Once you get these down, the possibilities are endless. I remember my first micro-macramé bracelet—it was a bit wobbly, but oh, the satisfaction when I finished it! Don’t worry if your first attempts aren’t perfect. Practice makes perfect, and every knot you tie is a step closer to mastery. Intricate micro-macramé bracelet with beads Exploring Popular Micro-Macramé Jewelry Techniques Now, let’s talk about some popular micro-macramé jewelry techniques that can elevate your creations from simple to stunning. 1. The Square Knot Chain This is the backbone of many micro-macramé designs. By repeating square knots, you create a flexible, textured chain that can be the base for bracelets or necklace strands. Try alternating colors or adding beads between knots for a playful twist. 2. The Spiral Knot Also known as the half knot spiral, this technique creates a beautiful twisted effect. It’s perfect for adding dimension and movement to your pieces. Spiral knots are especially eye-catching when combined with metallic threads or contrasting colors. 3. Beaded Micro-Macramé Incorporating beads into your knots adds sparkle and complexity. You can thread beads onto your cords before knotting or weave them into the pattern as you go. This technique is fantastic for creating statement pieces that catch the light and the eye. 4. Layering and Combining Techniques Don’t be afraid to mix different knots and textures. Layering micro-macramé chains or combining spiral and square knots can create unique, multidimensional jewelry that feels both modern and timeless. Remember, the key to mastering these techniques is patience and experimentation. I often find myself caught in the path of trying new patterns and color combos, but that’s where the fun really begins! Layered micro-macramé necklace with beads and spiral knots Tips for Perfecting Your Micro-Macramé Jewelry Alright, now that you know about the basics and some popular techniques, let’s get into some practical tips that will help you create flawless micro-macramé jewelry. Keep Your Tension Consistent One of the trickiest parts of micro-macramé is maintaining even tension throughout your knots. Too tight, and your piece will be stiff and hard to wear. Too loose, and it might look sloppy or fall apart. Try to keep your knots snug but flexible. It helps to take breaks and stretch your fingers to avoid fatigue. Use Quality Materials Investing in good-quality cords and beads makes a huge difference. Cheap threads can fray or break easily, and low-quality beads might lose their shine. Look for waxed polyester cords for durability and nylon threads for smoothness. Plan Your Design Before you start knotting, sketch your design or lay out your beads and cords. This planning phase saves you from mistakes and helps you visualize the final piece. I like to sketch to map out complex patterns. Finish Neatly The finishing touches are just as important as the knots themselves. Use a lighter to seal the ends of synthetic cords, and trim excess threads carefully. Adding clasps or adjustable knots can make your jewelry more wearable and professional-looking. Practice Makes Perfect Don’t get discouraged if your first few pieces don’t look like the ones you see online. Micro-macramé is an art that takes time to master. Celebrate your progress, and keep experimenting with new patterns and materials. Why Micro-Macramé Jewelry is a Must-Have for Art Collectors and Jewelry Lovers There’s something truly special about micro-macramé jewelry. Each piece is a tiny work of art, handcrafted with care and creativity. For art collectors and unique jewelry lovers, these pieces offer: Originality: No two pieces are exactly alike. The handmade nature means every bracelet or necklace tells its own story. Versatility: Micro-macramé jewelry can be casual or elegant, colorful or minimalist. It fits any style or occasion. Connection: Wearing or gifting micro-macramé jewelry feels personal. You’re sharing a piece of the artist’s vision and skill. Sustainability: Many micro-macramé artists use eco-friendly materials and ethical practices, making it a conscious choice for mindful consumers. If you’re drawn to original storytelling through art, micro-macramé jewelry is a beautiful way to express that passion. Plus, supporting artists who create these intricate pieces helps keep this delicate craft alive and thriving worldwide. Bringing Your Micro-Macramé Creations to Life Now that you’re armed with knowledge and inspiration, it’s time to get knotting! Whether you want to create a simple friendship bracelet or a complex statement necklace, micro-macramé jewelry techniques open up a world of creative possibilities. If you’re looking for more inspiration or want to explore unique pieces, I highly recommend checking out theMadness . My collections showcase a unique artistic vision, blending storytelling and craftsmanship in ways that truly captivate the mind and eye of the beholder. If you're interested in learning more about this wonderful art, consider taking a class with me and I'll be glad to share my vision with you all the way. • Quick Update

Not so much a newsletter, but rather a brief info dump and quick update on somethings that are going to change here at LWA. Keeping you up to date with the evolution of our community and creative output. First off, I'm currently working on what will be the new pieces for this last period of the year. I am waiting on a delivery of new stones from India, so the stone inventory will also be updated soon. The new collection however will feature mostly stones from our current catalog. Commissions are open, so if you're interested in a necklace for you or as a gift for your loved ones, now is the time to go for it. I'm considering posting many of the available stones on instagram for your viewing and choosing pleasure. Moving on, due to Wix's "evolution", the forum will be discontinued and so I will be removing the forum from the website. An alternative is being analized and considered for the future, but for now it is important to let you know that the forum will soon be deleted from the website. If I see fit and decide to merge it with another app, you will all be informed. The classes and courses on the website will be reorganized to be merged with a new section focused on education and academics only. It is important that the programs are of easy access to all, specially now that I've moved my operations to Japan. More online courses will be available as we progress with this new change, so stay tuned for more information on that branch of #theMadness. Many other aspects of the website are being reviewed for better and easier access. As these are being considered still, I rather not get into it too much. That's about it so far, so stay tuned for the changes to come and know that all this is to make all our lives easier as we interact with each other in this online environment. Stay safe and until next time. Irie bless!

  • Newsletter #014 - An artist's journey to a new life...

It's been about ten months since the last time I wrote an update here. A ride of fast paced madness and crazy twists and turns that have landed me on the other side of the globe indefinitely. And surely I owe you all an explanation, and oh do I have one. Ten videos worth of explanation spanning two years of things that happened and decisions made to get to this point. But in reality this is a dream that has been in the back of my mind since childhood. And I think you know by now that every dream I ever have, eventually becomes a plan, a plot to make it real. Hopefully these little snippets can shed some light into the train of thoughts that led me here. An artist's journey to a new life... What started over a decade ago as journeys of self discovery with one of my greatest friends, became an international trip for recovery, or maybe an endeavor for truth seeking, who really knows? Anyways, about two years ago, my bro-from-another and I took a road trip from east to west… I’ll spare you the details, but long story short, we both found our north and it became determination. The snow storms, the perils, the many stops, the beers and smoke clouds, it was all the kind of "scarring" that anyone would wish for, but only after the fact. During this trip, some lost "things" were recovered. Things like that subtle trust in the process, the sweet taste of freedom, the great joy of friendship, the eager early awakenings and that hope for tomorrow which is always so slippery. Thanks to that, permission to go crazy was granted, and theMadness that had been stagnant since the day I broke my neck was brought back. This led to a plethora of magic moments that still ripple through the ether... A year after the road trip, a lot happened. And thanks to the blood, sweat and tears shedded, an opportunity to go to Japan fell on my lap. This was not just an artistic residency… it was a rebirth for my creative soul. I met wonderful people, saw incredible places and conquered many hearts, including mine, all thanks to the work done and presented. Then the question came to me: “Well, should I?” So I began the research and boiling the tea waters, because things were about to get messy… The year was 2025. It started heavy. Another trip to California as a pit stop while I reached the goal of turning dreams into plans, that later would become action. A series of road trips and hikes into the beauty that many in this world choose to ignore: Nature. A trip to ground myself back into reality after many months of intense research and activities to give life back to my madness. But in truth, there was more dreaming than grounding. The fact is that we can plan all we want, but at the end we do what we can with what we have, in order to create the life we want. The good thing is that we are creating… Mid march I was landing back in Japan… in search for a future that needed building. There was a plan, but there was also the universe playing with heavy cards. Was my game really strong enough? I visited many places, met many people, had all sorts of experiences... some very confusing, others filled my heart and soul with joy and determination. The game had begun and in searching, a table was found where I could sit and play my cards. The results? I found a spot I could turn into a home. Many people asked me how, many wondered why, and the truth is that the answers were and yet also weren’t all that obvious. But let's have the actions speak for themselves. The second half of this trip would soon begin, but for now, shall we enjoy the experience gained? Here is where and this is when dreams stop being dreams... when Life happens… A reward after a successful campaign. That’s how it felt to return to California from Japan. I was celebrating the best way I could, in the mud. A treasure I was eager for. My boots were hungry and the ground was fertile. Nothing can stop me now. Many hikes, lots of snow, wondrous night skies, beautiful people… Such marvels are reserved for those willing to really seek them out. A blessing I am grateful for. The real gift came in the form of memories. Moments without equal that show how joy is meant to be felt and experienced. But this was just the beginning of the reckoning. What awaited ahead was not easy, and this journey was not fiction. Nothing left but to move forward. The next step was to return to the DR and prepare for a new life on the other side of the world. A challenge I was ready for… or so I wanted to believe. The DR, that place I called home for so many years and periods of my life... It gave me some of the greatest times and some of the most awesome friends I could ever ask for. This little island will forever be in my heart and I will hold these memories close, always. Still the need to move forward in life is a force to be respected and accepted, never feared. So to say goodbye in the only way I know how, a new trip was needed. Several locations all around the island, hugging loved ones, spending quality time with friends and enjoying the beauty that this little island provides, at least to those willing to see it. This is but a short sample of said trip, yet it holds the candor and brightness of the love that's left behind. The last road trip in DR... a place filled with wonder (because of course we are ignoring the ugly side of living in an island with horrible administration) just out there in the middle of the Caribbean waiting to be experienced. Let us focus on the greatness it provides… A lot was accomplished in my time in the DR, and it was all very valuable and worth the... Everything! Here are some of those works done in the past couple of years, plus a few memories of greatness. Many of these hadn't even been publicly shown before, so think of it as the last cherry on a very tasty cake. I must admit that even after all that happened and all that was lost… a whole lot was gained, earned and built. Many new books published, several presentations, various international shows and exhibits, beautiful creations and so much madness. I don’t normally give myself praise, but after seeing what was compiled in this little video, I am proud for not giving up and pushing forward with my art, my goals and my life. Just considering how different things could have been, had I not been the stubborn madman I'm known to be. The next video will be from the other side of the world, straight from the land of the rising sun, where a new chapter begins as the winter approaches. My inner child is happy… Here's a little interlude. In between moving from the DR to Japan, I was given the opportunity by the universe to take one last dip in Caribbean waters. My flights begun from Puerto Rico, allowing me to take an interesting ferry ride towards it, but also giving me the chance to hug an old friend and hang out with her family for a couple days. It was a short stop, but it was a great one. Just a few weeks in and already so much has happened. Encounters, separations, reunions, preparations, celebrations, tears of joy, seeing this side of the world again as if for the first time, with so much to give and yet so much patience to cultivate. It surely is a lot to unpack, but unpacking is what must be done. Soon, hopefully, many things will lay their roots and fixate the stability that has been planted. The fruits are yet to come, but considering the fertility of the soil, they are sure to be sweet. Though this may be the last part of a journey that began over 2 years ago, it is also just the early stages of the new beginnings. So join me as I continue the road ahead and face the world with the only weapon I've ever yielded: theMadness. September 27 and 28, 2025. The little town of Yamashiro Onsen, within the city of Kaga, normally a quiet and tranquil location, turned into an unforgettable street party to be witnessed, with artists and visitors from near and far raising the bar for posterity. Here's a little slideshow of the first art fair to feature my work since moving to Japan, sharing table with the Fusion International team and their class of 2025. So much to be seen and appreciated, even if the video doesn't really show it all. You'll have to trust me on this one, and maybe you'll want to be here next year to see it for yourself. So many new friends made and so much fun had, leaving no space for anything but respect and growth. And with that I conclude the dissertation if you will. It has been great sharing these things with you all, and now there's much more to prepare and accomplish. The Journey has just begun and what's ahead may be blurry, but it sure is bright. I don't promise constant updates, nor do I know when will the Shared Madness return, but know this, Nothing can stop us now . That is all for this newsletter, share it with your friends and family. Have a wonderful day, week, month... life! Remember to join theFamily  if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted  on Instagram with some exclusive interactions and first-looks at the things we have cooking. Never forget to embrace #theMadness  in you! Irie Bless!

  • Newsletter #013

Once again here to share with you a bit of what the Madman has been up to. It has been a while since the last Newsletter. November was surely a month with a lot in its hands. Most of my time was distributed between the International Book Fair, creating the presentation and making it available for everyone and, though it took a while, it was a success. So, the month began with the final touches towards the presentation I was due to give during the Book Fair. This talk allowed me to introduce the Gaia saga to a larger local audience. I did my best not to spoil the story itself while still providing plentiful information about the universe in which Gaia develops. The whole thing took under 15 minutes and it also served to introduce me as an author (considering that all my work thus far had been independent and very DIY) to the local community of readers, writers and enthusiasts. Then I went ahead and prepared it so that everyone could enjoy it. Meaning, I made a video of the whole thing, with voice-over, background music and all that jazz. After revising the first published version, some changes were made and a new video has been uploaded to the Youtube channel. And because I like to spoil you, instead of linking you to it, I invite you to check it out right here :) Another wonderful thing that happened was that " Gaia 0 " was available all throughout the fair at my editor's stand. It was certainly a blast to see my work alongside other Latin-American greats. And according to what I heard, all the available copies were sold, which sounds like great news, but we have yet to see that. I also had the chance of showing off all my other books, including my most recent, " 7531 and the Stages of Grief ". That was truly a wonderful experience, having people come up to me, with genuine interest and curiosity about my very different books. Many copies were sold and I literally sold out of " Gaia 0 " as well. Things are happening and I'm totally here for it. About Gaia... I've been working a lot lately on the world-building, redrawing the maps, organizing the timeline, growing the thing basically. Chances are that I will focus on working with the whole saga for a large part of next year. We'll see what else I come up with to fill the need for content and creation. Last but not least, I will be traveling for a large portion of next year. That means that these newsletters will be even more scarce... I will do my best to write every once in a while. But for now what you see is what you get. This week we won't be having the Shared Madness side of the newsletter, but I still want to invite you to this collective show. It was presented in the states not long ago and will now be available for all of us to enjoy, starting December 4th at 7pm. This will be at the Banreservas Cultural Center in Santo Domingo. That is all for this newsletter, share it with your friends and family. • Newsletter #012

Hey, Everyone! After a couple weeks without writing a newsletter, it is finally time for another one. The reason for the wait is simple: a lot of Work. Mostly working on the new book, which we shall talk about in a bit, and also other interesting things that are currently moving forward. I am seriously considering doing this by-weekly instead though... we'll see. First off, the elephant in the room. The new book " 7531 " is scheduled for release this Thursday, October 31st. The book is comprised of eight short stories, independent from each other to a degree. It comes with 35 digital illustrations that really drive the point forward. These images are now available for your viewing pleasure right here . This book has been in the chambers for like 3 years From conceptualization to intellectual creation and materialization, this has been a long and difficult ride. It is certainly an achievement, and in some ways a late birthday gift to myself. The subtitle of the book is quite direct in representing the main theme of the stories within it. The stages of grief are a difficult subject that I have dealt with personally on many occasions. It is from the need to really manage those feeling that these tales are born. This project is the cherry on my healing pie. In other news, the International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2024 is approaching and I have the wonderful honor of participating in various ways. First off, on November 11th I'll be presenting " Gaia 0 " to an audience of literature enthusiast, editors, colleagues and madness lovers like yourselves. Get ready for a detailed exploration of the story, for I'll be taking a deep dive into how this world came to be and where it's headed. A wonderful opportunity for all those of you curious about what this Epic Saga has to offer. The presentation will be 15 minutes long, so kind of like a Ted Talk of sorts. I will be preparing the whole thing in that style, and I am sure to capture the attention and curiosity of those who show for it. I hope I can record the whole thing so to upload it for all of you to enjoy, but I still encourage you to be there. Nothing like the real thing, am I right? Later that same week, on Friday the 15th, I'll be at the National Museum of Modern Art all day, with all my books, signing and talking to those interested in chatting and those who come with inquiries. I will also bring a few illustrations for y'all to see. If you have any questions regarding any of my books or my work in general, I'll be happy to answer them all for you then and there. This is a unique opportunity since I don't tend to go out much. Hermit life I guess, hahaha. It should be noted that I am doing all I can to have copies of "7531" available that day as well. Considering it is my latest book, it would be foolish of me not to do all in my power to have it there as well. So, I hope to see you there! And now... The Shared Madness As we reach the end of the month, most of the activities available have been already running for a few weeks now. But that's not an impediment to theMadness being shared. Events Adela Dore, Digno Roa, Patricia Encarnación and Torrijo Galeano "Interés Común" S/Cavoli Santo Domingo, DR For those interested and curious to know what the local art scene looks like, four excellent representatives of the artistic community are here to fill that void in your lives. Their individual styles versus the common goals and the curation work of Luis Graham make this show a must see. Definitely recommended for all you art enthusiasts and Madness Lovers. Open until December 18th. Ileana Montero "Los Legados del Abuelo Johnny" DCEX-2406 Amsterdam Av, 4th floor New York, US For our dear diaspora in the big apple, this one is for you. The author Ileana Montero will be presenting her book, illustrated by the wonderful Taína Almodóvar, with the help and detail from the Dominican Writers Association. The book is about Dominican legend Johnny Ventura, and alongside the author, Josefina Ventura (his widow) will also join the panel of speakers. Opens Monday, October 28th, at 4:00PM. Colectivo Modafoca "La Madera Era / El Tejido Ido" Lucy García Gallery Santo Domingo, DR This show is an exploration of the customs of the island as a societal nation. A manifestation from the study of our ancestors and their craft and skills in contrast to the market's industrialization. A very interesting, modern and graphic representation of many aspects of our ancestry as island people. Open until November 10th. Newsletter Highlight Marocha Arredondo Dominican artist living in the Netherlands. Time to enjoy the colorful, energetic and lively illustrations of my dear colleague, Marocha. Her work has evolved to such levels and places of experimentation that it is easy to be drawn to it. Focusing her energy in paintings, illustrations and even beautiful works of ceramic, she has really taken her skills to a new level. As a visual artist, she has extended her grasp far enough to really be respected in her field. So much so that her work can be found in some AAA video games out there. She is that versatile. And talking about versatility, I personally love her experiments with expressionism such as this wonderful pieces, where she takes a very well known element of the Dominican culture and represents it with very well thought brushed square spots. Her version of the faceless ladies is without a doubt an achievement in skill and interpretation. Her signature pastels are what bring this piece to light as unique, really making it her own. Now don't be fooled by the brightness, since she has proven that it's not all about a broad pallet, and that sometimes one single color and its shades can bring any canvas to life. Here we see her in action, as she works on a piece that really connects with me for various reasons. She called this beauty "Acceptance, the Last Stage of Grief". I bet y'all can guess why I'm drawn to it. As a fan that I can be considered, I must admit that her illustrations are inspiring. Her process is constantly improving thanks to her dedication and love for the craft. One thing I really enjoy is seeing her sketches become pieces, for I give much importance to the conceptualization of a project, and she excels in it. Her constant search for what her mind interprets as beautiful is admirable. In this small canvas we can see how her use of bright pastel colors brings the composition to a fantastical world I'm sure many, myself included, would love to live in. Lastly, I'd like to bring to your attention these beautiful ceramic pieces. The clay, while brown in color, still reflects her style very well. It should be noted that her exploration with clay extends from the decorative into the functional. But even then she brings a particular love to it that really sets it apart from other similar artists. Don't be surprised by the range of her skills, for she is a worthy representative of the Madness within. Go show her some love on Instagram @por.maro . That is all for this newsletter, share it with your friends and family. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily  if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted  on Instagram with some exclusive interactions and first-looks at the things we have cooking. Never forget to embrace #theMadness  in you! Irie bless!

  • Life, Death and Everything in Between

Life is crazy. Institutionalized and medicated, making everyday worth the time wasted through thick and thin, as if momentum tended towards infinity. Dealing with the treacherous ways of Everything in Between, seeking for air to breath while submerged in the waters that never broke. Left to decay, as the fish take bites of the skin that peels. Oh, the fish... determined to feed with no satisfaction in sight. Once they were beautiful moments, memories uncanny. But they were given the time necessary to become the trauma inducing situations that It carries. Yeah, Life is crazy. Because it's nowhere far from lunacy to consider the helping hand as equivalent to the snack in the way. Yeah, keep biting the hand that feeds and you'll be left waiting for the results. Life isn't responsible for enacting dramas or enforcing consequences. It just walks, and walks, and continues to become whatever it may, and promptly forgets the path already walked. It's not the first time after all. It is a never-ending cycle, as It reaches the edge of Everything in Between. It should not come as a surprise what lies at the end... there on the cold floor where blood was once spilled. There where rock and bottom meet for an unwanted union of lust and disgust. But still It walks ahead, the unstoppable force. It leans forward and takes a glimpse at the void... It smiles. The only way out is through, but the circumstances... heating up the clay, avoiding logic, exonerating all possible change from repercussions. Watch the sky for me and memorize the stars, so when I'm finally blinded by the light your hand can still guide me. Or don't, I don't care, it's none of my business after all. That's why you left, that's why you walk. Just make sure to avoid me when you come around these trees again. Otherwise I won't be held responsible for my inaction and stillness, for I am that immovable object that negates your existence. Perhaps the smoke in your eyes is actually helpful. Ignorance is bliss after all. Embrace it as you walk away, the silhouette of my shadow, painted on the floor as I stare at the mushrooms. And if ever the rain falls on you, let it slide and don't think about the golden color. It's just the sun burning the thousand dreams I once had. Did you try the cool-aid? I did, it's not like the purple berries... yet I'm pretty sure the taste will be of your liking. Don't play stupid, you know where you're headed. Take me with you. Stop acting like you're so much better just because you've done this before. This is your walk of shame and you lost my respect when you said "hello" so, why pretend? Sometimes it's better if you just don't wake up. Then there's other times when it's better if I don't. Then you ask "better for who?" and the convulsions begin. It's ok, you don't need to care. Keep the self-destructive tendencies updated and reach out when the attention you get isn't enough. Careful not to touch the blade, I cleaned the floor with your intentions and I would hate to have to do it again... not really. I kinda' liked it actually. The inaccuracies are what make you whole, you said. I guess no road is ever truly clear. These are no boots and the flames ain't burning for my sandals so, why should I give in? Crazy... you want to know what IS crazy? Ideas that linger and fade away when the "I don't give a fuck" army comes along. The chanting, the marching, the battle, the blood, gore galore and all that's left is a dollar bill to file a complaint that no one will ever read. Life isn't crazy, It's the sugar that drives it mad, it's the cocaine in the air tonight, the salt dripping from my back. You can see the powders too, if you look hard enough. But if you look to hard, Life will send the cops for you and falsely claim that you groped her. Because when Life gives you lemons, the only rational thing to do is to squeeze the rancid acid... let it be spilled indiscriminately in her eyes for our enjoyment. All Life left me with was the negativity and the underlining hatred towards roaches and ticks. Everything in between was the sea of disgustingness I had to swim. "Had" because no other options were available. And when I finally reached shore, Life had changed clothes. It wore a long black dress and in its hand, an inhaler. "Asthma is everywhere" Life claimed, arm extended towards me, still lying on the sand, puking weeds, dead fish and a bucket of salt water. I chose not to take Life's hand. I know better now so, I just stood up and lit a cigarette. The smoke was coming out of the bullet wounds left by your 9 (mm) words. Don't talk to me about honesty, all you teach is fake, all you give is lies, all you see is me. Alas the walk was over. I looked at you and your smile made me sick, like everything that brings you happiness. It's my fault for choosing the way of the courier, for being the carrier of the key that solves your puzzle. These days have found the infinite path, and now the pass without remorse or regard for any kind of wellbeing... and I say it's enough. A statement unbroken for now it's my turn to give the beating. Now I hold the knife. Now I cut your fading memory and delve in the empty spaces of my mind. Now I walk because, Life and Everything in Between may be crazy but, Death is where sanity lies. Death is where sanity sleeps.

  • a week off...

No, I'm not taking a week off from work, just from the newsletter. Tho' some good things have happened this past week, I'll be sharing them next week. Why am I making a post then? Well, I rather communicate with all of y'all... I'm trying to really be present and to maintain a good conversation with y'all. I still have a lot to do and very little time to do it. So, thanks for your patience, my dearest Madness Lovers, and see you next week for newsletter 11 :) Irie Bless!

  • Newsletter #010

Hello, Everyone! A great week with much progress and a few new things to share with you all. The works for "7531" are going smooth, or so I want to believe. This has been... a lesson. Nevertheless, I understand that it is going as it should, and that the results are really speaking for themselves. I won't be sharing any pictures today, but soon. While I've been quite busy working on those illustrations, they're not the only thing I've been working on. Last week I presented the next workshop in the agenda. A Dreamcatcher workshop for October 5th at B&B El Mirador al Mar, in Sosua, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. This is going to be a great experience that will satisfy that creative craving y'all may have. While it will cover the basics of dreamcatcher manufacturing, it will also include a brief introduction into their history, their legacy. Certainly it will be a rich experience for all those who are able to join. In the process of making it easy for all of you to join the workshop, I realized that some adjustments where needed. After a lot of messing around, I was finally satisfied with the look, feel and functionality of this new addition. So, allow me to formally introduce LWA Solutions , where all your creative needs will be met. This new section is dedicated to all the services I provide. Workshops, classes, commissions and more. I'd like to believe that each tab is quite self explanatory, with the exception of maybe Services. Within this tab you will find how to book a meeting with me so we can discuss your wishes. These include macramé commissions, illustrations for production like story boards, portraits, murals and much more! Like always, LWA bringing Solutions to your Creative Needs . The release of this new section of theMadness also means that all Classes are now in session. You can now book my time to learn any and all of the many crazy things I do. Enter a new era in your creative life and become an Alumni of theMadness. A plethora of artistic endeavors and paths at the tip of your finger. Choose your battle and I'll help you build an Empire. The schedule is quite open in terms of time availability. Most of the classes can fit groups of up to four participants, so consider bringing some of your friends along with you on this path of creation. And now... The Shared Madness This week we have a few more varied things to do, here and there, and all for your enjoyment. Events Luci Ferrum "DarkWaveNight" RocknRolla Santo Domingo, DR A very talented and creative producer and friend. One of many artists presenting their projects that night, all with the same motif, an ode to Dark Wave, a very interesting genre of the Electronic scene. Totally recommended. Doors open at 9pm, September 26th Mafuul Flay & Yakirt "Hiphop @ Atabeyra's" Atabeyra Bohemia Santiago, DR Here's something hot for the people in the north side of the island. A night with two local hip hop veterans. Come trip on them rhymes with the machines, let them blow your mind and then reach in, surely some good will come from something that weird. Doors open 8:30pm, September 20th Biblioteca Efímera de Publicaciones Independientes "Todo esto hicimos" Centro Cultural Español Santo Domingo, DR An interesting presentation of how the independent print world in the early 2000's evolved as well as the struggles the literary journey from the margins. Doors open 8:00pm, September 17th Collective Show "Entre Mares, del mediterráneo al caribe" Puerto de Tarragona Barcelona, Spain How about one for our friends in the mediterranean? Here's an interesting conversation between Dominican artists and Catalonian artists. Open from September 12th to the 26th Newsletter Highlight Josama Dominican artist in the United States. A personal favorite, Josama is master of many crafts. A painter and rapper with a complex approach towards the exploration of everyday life. His work uses icons from pop culture and places them in the most interesting situations, leading to all sorts of balanced chaos. These situations mirror the life and interactions between "incompatible" characters, and how volatile is the human experience, all through paintings with Mighty Mouse, Alf, Garfield, Alfalfa and the Hamburgler. It sounds insane, but what's really insane is how broad the message can be. There is an exploration visible in his most recent works. They show a more intentional reach into his roots and the roots of human existence. The pieces he's created somewhat depict the path between the earthly live and the worlds beyond our consciousness chains. The question isn't canon but, Where do they lead? The warping reality, the vortex holes, the chosen characters and their relation, the work is truly enchanting. In his work you can get lost either considering what in the heck does any of it mean while swimming in the sea of options, or just looking at the intricate details of each of his paintings, regardless of size. Layer upon layer purposefully laid with every brush stroke, all towards an impossible image. Totally the kind Madman we love here! You can also show him some love on Instagram @josama_zeptepizemi . That is all for this newsletter, share it with your friends and family. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily  if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted  on Instagram with some exclusive interactions and first-looks at the things we have cooking. • Newsletter #009

Hi, Everyone! I've been so busy and fixated with the illustrations for "7531", I forgot to write the newsletter on time for this week. Even if late, I do have some good things to share with you all. About two months ago, through the Instagram channel, I asked y'all to vote for three of my illustrations in a contest. I was among the 10 winners of said contest , and I have all of you to thank for this achievement. Having won this contest opened the path for many opportunities that are little by little moving forward. I can now share one such opportunity, for I will be presenting those three illustrations in the Gwangju International Art Fair, in Gwangju City, South Korea, from October 10th to the 13th. Once I have more details, I'll gladly share them with you all, and if you happen to be out there in October, go check the show out and send me pictures! Also happening next month, I will be part of a digital show being set up in Paris, France, for the Art Basel Week with the team of ARTBOXY. That one is quite interesting for many reasons: it will be a digital showcase, it will be during Art Basel Paris, the gallery is in Saint-Germain-des-Prés very close to the Louvre Museum, I won't be there personally but will be represented by three of my favorite illustrations from one of my most underrated books. I love it! As more information is given to me, I'll be sharing it with you all here. And it's cool that I won't be there directly in neither of these shows, because I will be quite busy in October as well. The release of "7531" is obviously on the table, but there is something else! I will be giving, along side a good colleague of mine, a Dreamcatcher Workshop in Sosua. It will be a basic introductory workshop where, besides giving you a proper introduction to the history behind the art itself, you will learn the basics for weaving a dreamcatcher and some advanced tips a tricks for your creative self to flow with. That's happening on October 5th, at B&B El Mirador al Mar, Sosua, RD. If you want to sign up, you can save your spot HERE . And now... The Shared Madness Considering that I didn't really have that much time to put this newsletter together, here I bring you what I could find happening in the city in the next few days. Events Batey Cero "La Mala Res" Mercedes 313 Santo Domingo, DR A classic in the local scene, Batey Cero comes with their great vibe to make sure we let go of all them inhibitions and really dance the night away. Music begins at 10pm, September 13th Dominican Writers Association "Entre Letras with Frank García" Instagram Live Interview @ dominicanwriters A great local poet, Frank García will be talking about his latest book "Flotando sobre las cañas" and his literary journey. Don't miss out on this opportunity to hear the perspective of the poet at the moment of creation. Live begins at 7PM EST, September 12th And talking about Dominican Writers... Newsletter Highlight Angy Abreu Dominican writer living in the United States. It is an honor to highlight this wonderful human being. Angy lives in New York, and for years it has been her mission to bring together the underground community of Dominican writers with the World. Through a lot of effort and dedication she has created a very positive outlet on our island's literature, finding and sharing not only opportunities for up-and-coming writers, but also literary workshops, open calls, book clubs, and more. Her various creative ways to bring together the community have really payed off over the years, as she has been recognized as an integral part of the development of our literature. Her accolades speak for her as much as her incessant strive for better days for our writers. Certainly someone you want in your path as a writer, if that's your calling as it is mine. You can also show her some love on Instagram @angysgotit and give your support to our literary community @dominicanwriters . That is all for this newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily  if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted  on Instagram with some exclusive interactions and first-looks at the things we have cooking. Never forget to embrace #theMadness  in you! Irie bless!
