Hello, Everyone! I took a week off, but now we're back. It has been a weird couple of weeks to be honest and, to honor that weirdness, I'd like to give some insight to how Mad is the Madman behind all this Madness. As an Artist, I'm certainly not the archetype of what that entails. I don't enjoy being in the spotlight, my face is normally hidden for the most of my social media presence, I'm not out there mingling with my peers, I don't seek for validation from everyone, if not just a very small roster of people I've admired through my path. No, I'm not an anonymous artist, I just rather have my work speak for me. I'm simply the face behind it all. Seeing the pieces I make, watching the projects reach completion, that's more than enough reward for me, but it doesn't pay the bills. This leads to me working a lot harder to get some sort of compensation, like a fetch quest in a video game... In this particular moment of my life, "the Quest" is reaching sales of the new book. So, allow me to thank all of you who have bought it so far, as it really helps move the path forward. Please, remember to leave your reviews on Goodreads . Turns out that if I get good sales, the odds of finally moving the story forward are much better. Gaia 1 is a pretty big project, and considering that the whole saga has been under creation for the past 24 years, it is surely a dream of mine to finally get all these books out. To give you an idea of what's to come, Gaia 0 is under 200 pages, but Gaia 1 is around 800 so far, without the illustrations. That gave me the idea of maybe releasing Gaia 1 in two parts, both at the same time. That being said, Gaia's 2 through 6 are also around the same volume so they'll probably also be divided in two parts. Add to that maybe four to five books around the same volume as Gaia 0, and that makes about 18 books total for the saga. It is certainly not a small project, and could be considered my Magnus Opus. It is, however, not the only project in the works. As I've mentioned before, the next book in the agenda is "7531", eight short stories founded on the principles of grief and its five levels or stages. The illustrations have really been taking a toll on me. The image I share today is a work in progress, hinting to where this is going. As you can see, it is crosshatching galore. The process has been lengthy and it keeps dragging out. I really hope the book won't be delayed, but we'll see how it all unfolds. The wheel keeps turning as things keep happening, and nothing can stop it now so, let's embrace the results. And now... The Shared Madness This month is a bit slow on the events so far, but more will come and we'll keep sharing them for you. Here's what's up so far. Events El Arañazo "100 Mil Poetas por el Cambio" Centro Cultural de España Santo Domingo, RD An afternoon with global impact. The initiative didn't begin in the island, but it surely reverberated in it, and El Arañazo's cultural team took it upon themselves to honor it. Open mic, local books and authors, a big day for poetry in general. There will be discussions on the part poetry plays in the social, ecological, economical and political aspects of the world we share and live in. Very much recommended for all literature enthusiasts. Doors open 4:30PM, September 21st. Julianny Vólquez "Opening Reception and Artist Talk" Artpace Studio San Antonio, Texas, United States. As part of the Artists in Residence program, our fellow Dominican artist, Julianny Vólquez joins two US artists in preparing the Fall 2024 show for this gallery. They will be having an event to welcome the artists into the residency program and have a talk with the crowd and media. Go see what they have in store! Doors open 6:00PM, September 12th Newsletter Highlight Paula Saneaux Dominican Artist living in the United States. This is an interesting artist to highlight. A sort of veteran at this point, one that doesn't fear learning new things, because even though she's been in this business for a while, having graduated Parsons almost 20 years ago, she now pursues an MFA in Studio Arts at the MICA in Baltimore. Her many collections study the female form, always placing it as the main character, interacting with emotion, duress... life. Her newest works deal with issues like mental health and physical illness, yet her entire portfolio is filled with the feminine experience and struggle. This portrayal leads to a deep conversation over the different aspects of what it means to be a woman and the empathy (or lack-there-of) that society offers to said experience. Technically speaking, her work is very clean and with a focus on realism. Kind of leaning into the idea that the uncanny valley line is inexistent and, therefore, reality is what we make of it. In other words, her style makes me want to question the status quo. Though the portraits are certainly beautiful in the visual sense, they carry a much deeper message than the aesthetics suggest. Playing with color and chroma to help in the expression of the subjects, while portraying them with the utmost care and diligence. Her style is very powerful. On her website you can see for yourself the amazing works this genius has concocted. Browse through her library of works and let yourself be taken by the images. Surely your mind will be aroused into thought. You can also show her some love on Instagram @paulasaneaux . That is all for this newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted on Instagram with some exclusive interactions and first-looks at the things we have cooking. Never forget to embrace #theMadness in you! Irie bless!

Hi, everyone. Lovely to be back with you all. This past week was somewhat slow. The illustrations for "7531" keep on evolving and really showing themselves to me somehow. It feels pretty cool to have the pieces talk back at ya'. And even if these are going to be digital, they still have something interesting to them. I enjoy this process. Considering I don't really have a "style" when it comes to digital illustration, it becomes a very fluent process, trying to really find that voice. For now I can share this line drawing. Just a work-in-progress, but still so loud in its quietness... This was not the only thing going on. There's another project that's slowly moving forward too. I'm talking about "Ookami and the Blue Gem", the second volume of the webcomic/graphic novel. It is still very early in production to really give an ETA on its release, but you will be kept in the loop so, do not fret. Just like the first volume, the chapters will be released slowly on the website, for free. Once all 6 chapters are out, the preparations for the release of the graphic-novel version will begin. The cover art and name of the volume are very much placeholders at this moment, but the path is set, story-wise. There is much fun to be had in the process of creation of this project. Still, time is only so much, and many other projects are still in the making. Soon I'll share more details about it. In the meantime, if you haven't yet, go and enjoy the first volume here! And maybe consider purchasing the Hardcover Graphic Novel version of it. On another note, I don't have many details yet, but I will be participating in the next National Book Fair in Santo Domingo, presenting to the world and signing the new edition of "Gaia 0". I'm super excited about that, but that's all I have for you on that subject for now. As I receive more information on it, I'll share it with y'all, my dearest #MadnessLovers. Get your copy here and bring it to the fair to have it signed! And now... The Shared Madness Once again, we take a look at what's happening around in the artistic/cultural scene of the Dominican Republic and its diaspora. And I mention the diaspora because today we're going to see a few things that our beautiful people are making outside the island borders. That being said, this week's Highlight will be a local wonder. Enjoy! Newsletter Events Saray Figuereo Roa "Aventura/Viaje a la memoria colectiva" Centro Cultural de España San Jose, Costa Rica A spoken-word workshop intended for adults who wish to explore their Afro-Caribbean roots and heritage through the art of performance. Call Extended until August 22nd Workshop August 26-30th Collective Exhibition. "Cuerpo e Identidad" 2406 Amsterdam Av. 4th fl New York, USA Once again, after a very successful run back in May-June this year, this excellent show returns with intensity. Forty-two Dominican printmakers and forty-two Dominican writers join forces to portray a common vision. Open until September 27th. Voices Unleashed. "Unplugged" Jardin Secreto Santo Domingo, DR. A night of poetry, music, theater and a lot of fun for those looking for something fresh. Closing the event will be Luitoma , with his newest works and smooth style, making sure you feel the love. Doors open 6:30pm, August 22nd. Highlight Tomás Pichardo Espaillat Dominican Artist living in Santo Domingo Illustrator, animator, writer, director... this guy gets it! His work shines for it's uniqueness and his style is surely something to behold. The way he chooses to use images to convey messages is quite interesting. His school for animation was the world and the experience that came with it. Animating videos for Ted-Ed with a really absorbent mindset gave him what he needed in terms of practice. The rest came from his creative side. Having released his first feature animation film called "Olivia y las Nubes" about 10 months ago, he saw a path that needed walking. And so he did. Today his work continues to be praised for its ingenious ways. So much so that an exposition is being held from August 22nd to October 10th, based on the film. This is happening at the Museum of Modern Art in Santo Domingo. This will include animation workshops, talks, performances, and much more. The film was also recognized at the prestigious Locarno Film Festival, in Switzerland, furthermore cementing his achievements with this great visual piece. Another proof that when Dominican talent reaches the world, they can only sit back and observe in awe. Take the time to visit his website and check out his intriguing portfolio. Enjoy the mastery as much as I did. You can also show him some love on Instagram @tomaspichardoespaillat . That is all for today's newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily if you haven't yet and, to continue growing the community, we also have The Madness Broadcasted on Instagram. Hi, Everyone! This week was a blast. The newest edition of " La Leyenda del Recordatorio de los Dioses " is now out and ready for purchase. Conversations about new things to come are happening and I just don't stop getting myself involved into more and more madness. Let me explain... So, I had a conversation with a couple of young ladies about an upcoming project. And for that project, they'd like for me to make some clothes. After some consideration, some things were agreed upon and well, some new patterns had to be made. I took that opportunity to help a fellow Mad One to learn how to make patterns using my empiric methods. Clothes making isn't new to me but I don't have proper training when it comes to fashion design and/or confection. But what I do have is a constant yearning for new adventures and challenges. In the past I used to make many pieces of clothing for all you, my dearest Madness Lovers. Now a days I only make clothes for myself, and in very special occasions, such as this. I must admit I enjoyed making them, but I don't miss having to. The styles I enjoy designing and creating aren't exactly the most fashionable or even related to the latest trends. I just happen to enjoy breathing. Hence why I make clothes that will not choke me, literally and metaphorically. While these designs may not be very popular here, I find myself very much represented in them, and I wear them proudly. These new patterns will be used for some tests, and from there, many cool things will come. We'll see how that evolves. In any case, this is a project that is still developing so, no more can be shared at the moment. I'm not saying that I'll be making a new collection but, who knows what may really happen? And now... The Shared Madness! Welcome to your source for the Madness manifested in other Mad Ones. Every week, new art shows, on-going ones and upcoming events in the Dominican Republic and beyond. Remember to check last week's newsletter for more on-going events this month. Enjoy! Newsletter Events Coline Raposa "Como brota la muerta, brota la vida" Copey Centro Cultural Santo Domingo Comparing the everyday struggle to the dichotomy of life and death. Truly contemporary and relatable. Open until August 18th. Indhira Hernández "¿Auto-Retrato?" Ossaye Casa de Arte Santo Domingo The search of identity and the approach the artist takes towards answering the hard questions. Open until August 25th. Xabier Liz "Cámara Encantada" Fundación Juan Mayí Santo Domingo A Spaniard artist visiting our island with beautiful works. Something different, something new. Open until August 25th. Vic Contreras "Arriba en el Cielo" Proud Mary Santo Domingo Come dance for free, to the beat of the new music Vic brings to town this time around. Happening August 31st, 9pm. Highlight Dwarmis Concepción Dominican artist, living in New York About a week ago, Dwarmis released her new collection called "Cimientos". When I saw it, pride rained upon me and couldn't wait to be witness to where she's headed. She has successfully created a space for her brand in the big apple's fashion scene, which is no small feat. With experience piling up, show after show, season after season, collections galore, she has really claimed and taken a sit on that table. Her work is truly gorgeous. With an eye for classic styles, combined with her magic touches. Specially her dresses tend to be the sensation where ever they show up. This new collection has a vintage look while remaining contemporary. You can really tell the level of work and expertise that has been put into these designs. The lines contrasting with the fabric, the shapes contrasting with form, the beauty of gravity! The audacity to come up with such beautiful pieces and not making any for men kind of hurts me. But beyond my little petty selfish inner child, these are masterpieces totally worthy of being in the most prestigious closets, to be worn to the galas and ceremonies of the world. You can find them on Instagram as @dwarmis . That is all for today's newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily if you haven't yet and, embrace #theMadness in you! Irie bless!

Hi, everyone! This week comes with amazing news. Something I've been anxiously wanting to share with you all for a while now. Back in February, about a week after " Dimensional " was published, I got in touch with a team that has been properly doing their part to expand the limits of contemporary Latin-American literature. After a few exchanges, I was granted the honor of becoming part of their family of authors. It is with great pleasure, I announce to you that I am now a Published Author in the house of La Pereza Ediciones . We are currently working on a new edition of "La Leyenda del Recordatorio de los Dioses" (as you can already see from the cover image) and the plan is to continue the saga, which is a pretty big endeavor. To honor that, I chose to make two brand-new illustrations for the book, only available in this new edition. It will soon be ready for purchase everywhere, including some of the local bookstores within the Dominican Republic, and hopefully in the future, to the rest of the Hispanic world. It will be through your help that we can get this book beyond these borders and really bring this story to light. Considering that many of you are the inspiration to the characters in the whole saga, this great achievement is as much mine as it is yours. I sincerely thank you all for your support over the years, and encourage you to continue doing so. Share this with your friends and family and lets all grow together. Here's a small video with all the Illustrations, including the new ones. You can also check them out HERE and enjoy your time with each image. It is certainly a great feeling to draw again for this story. I've been waiting for this moment for a while now. And I tell you this as I work on the next installment of the saga, Gaia 1. More on that will come soon, but for now, be attentive for the release of this new edition of Gaia 0. And now... The Shared Madness! Here is where Dominican artists all over the world get a bit of love from me. I take my time to look for other fellow islanders in the world of the arts around the globe, hoping to bring you the precious relics found, so y'all can go and show them some love as well. So look for this section in the future, if you want to add some color to your week. This segment of the newsletter will also highlight some of the upcoming events happening mostly in Santo Domingo. In the future, expect to see events happening nationwide, or even worldwide. This being the first one, let's work our way up, as we say "Sin prisa, sin peros, sin pausa" (no hurry, no buts, no pause). NEWSLETTER EVENTS José Morban "Orgullo Nacional" Centro Cultural de España Santo Domingo Once again creating a memorial archive of Dominican history and its political legacy through his beautiful paintings. Open until September 1st. Samuel Priego "Extravagario" Museo de Arte Moderno Santo Domingo Transforming the everyday life into an intimate encounter with our own complexities. Open until August 19th. Frank Garcia "Flotando sobre las cañas" Centro Cultural de España Santo Domingo The release of this wonderful poet's new book. "Flotando sobre las cañas - poemas con la muerte" is a deep conversation of intimacy and social reality. It brings to the table, without hesitation, subjects many people fear touching, and makes them humane and relatable. Releases on August 14th, 7pm. HIGHLIGHT Yermine Richardson Dominican artist, living in Barcelona. About a week ago, this artist shared this beautiful interaction with an elementary art teacher. The TLDR of it all is, she found his work, fell in love, and then used that as reference in class, having kids (ages 4-10, and their parents even) try out the style using other materials, resulting in a really synesthetic experience. It truly shows how far can art go and the reach of our influence as artists. But it is also a testament to the quality of his particular craft and work. His experimentation with color and contrast is impressive to say the least. A path to enrich the depiction of his heritage as a way to open a wonderful dialog on what it is to embrace one's roots, and the history of beauty that comes with it. As mentioned prior, Yermine resides in Barcelona, where his latest showings have proudly been a success. Here in the picture we can see him posing next to one of his paintings at MECA Art Fair (April 2024). Here at the Madness, we wish him a bright and fulfilling future where his art continues to reach new horizons. May the challenges become the source of strength that pushes the door open for inspiration and creation! You can find them on Instagram as @popcaribe . That is all for today's newsletter. Have a wonderful week, remember to join theFamily if you haven't yet and, embrace #theMadness in you! Irie bless!

Hello, everyone! So... Last week's newsletter was a problem. It was delayed due to an injury on my shoulder, but that's not important. To some degree this can be considered a rant, but if you trust me and read to the end, you will be satisfied. I promise it won't end on a sad note. You see, there's a part of #theMadness that I love very much and it's what I like to call "Shared Madness". This refers to those moments in social media where I would bring forward some of my local colleagues and their works to my audience. Since art and alternative culture in the Dominican Republic are not really given the deserved credit, I would take it upon myself to share the pieces of my fellow artists and their upcoming events. It may not have been much but it was something. Well, last week's newsletter was going to implement said dynamics to the newsletters and, aside of sharing where things are within this little bubble of mine, I was going to share some interesting events and art shows happening in the island that week. But then the most unfortunate yet not surprising thing happened. Someone decided that "art" was not something this country needed. Let me explain... From the 19th to the 28th of July, "Areyto Antillano" was happening in the city of Santo Domingo. A group of amazing muralists and graffiti artists representing various latino countries had prepared a show of wonderful works. These pieces brought to the light the marvelous heritage that is shared by these artist. A remembrance of the roots that have been neglected and buried by colonialism and its consequences. One of the many pieces created for this show was a mural gifted to the city by all the artists in unison. Such a beautiful piece gave the community something to look up to and be grateful for, which was expressed to the artists by the locals. However, not even a week later, a video started circulating of a man repainting the walls to black. The outrage of the artistic community was "felt" through repostings of the video and expressions of disgust. This is not just a bad image internationally, but it really shows the position of this country towards supporting artists and their projects. And the ugly part is that this is not an isolated event. This has been a constant for a few decades now. It may be just me, but something happened in the 90's in this country and many cultural and artistic opportunities started to disappear. When it comes to murals, in my young life and to my understanding, the first one to go was in 2003 when Molinos Dominicanos erased a Venezuelan artist mural that was almost a national patrimony at that point. Then came the UTESA's "Obreros Pintando Nubes" situation, which was an iconic mural in the city of Santo Domingo. While it is true that the mural was in disrepair, instead of investing in a process of restoration to preserve its legacy, they just chose to completely erase the piece. This even led to legal action due to the copyright of the piece and what was agreed upon before its creation. This kind of infringement against the artistic community can be found all over the country, with examples in Santiago , Puerto Plata , Nagua , Jarabacoa , Elias Piña and sadly many, many more... Cases like the one in Santiago are baffling, where the murals in question belonged to the School of Fine Arts. Or in Nagua, where the artists were literally called "Satanic" by the media, after a local pastor took it upon himself to spout ignorant rhetoric about the art, to then eliminate one of the murals, in less than 10 hours of its creation!! It is certainly overwhelming, the silence from the authorities in these cases. Even louder is the effort in our society to make ignorance the norm. An interesting project to destroy our nation and to silence the voice of the artists, specially those who question the status quo. Some have even called it a "Cultural War" or more like a war against culture. But at the same time, many Dominican artists reach center stage in various other countries like Spain, the US, Argentina, Germany, South Korea, and oh! So many more. I guess that old phrase isn't wrong after all and "No one is a prophet in their own land". In some ways it feels like this society thinks its people are trash until someone else says otherwise... The reality is a harsh lie, but it is our reality. That means we have our work cut out for us artists. It is now, more than ever, that we need to really take this narrative and create. Create to express the truth behind this lie, to break the eggshell minds and fill them with bliss and knowledge, to really question the status quo. That's why we keep working, that's why more show are happening, and why there's a plethora of poets, painters, dancers, actors, designers, graffiti artists, musicians, even circus acts! Because we all still believe in the Power of Creation, we understand that the calling is real and the message is there for us to re-interpret and share with a world that insists on being blindfolded. We are what's left after they've burned all the books. We are the ones who will re-write them all. And we don't care if it's going to be within the DR's boundaries or not, with or without the support of society, the government, or even the people. Our voices are timeless and their echo is eternal. Anyways! Next week we'll get back to our regular programing and the new section of "Shared Madness" will be then introduced properly. Hope your week is productive and filled with success. Irie bless!

Hello, everyone! Welcome to the 3rd edition of this weekly Newsletter. Got a couple updates to share today with you all. So sit back, relax and enjoy the read! Have you ever really seen the passing of time manifested in front of you? When we dedicate time to any particular endeavor, sometimes we don't realize the passing of it or even the actual results of our efforts. That being said, last week I received copies of my latest books and noticed that for the first time I have copies of all my published books in one single place. I first started writing while in high school. It used to be mostly poetry and lyrics for the hardcore band I was a part of back then. Then, one evening, someone told me I should write a book. I may have taken the advice to much to heart, but I don't see that as a problem. To think that since 2010 I've published 8 books total, that's kind of a flex, honestly. Go check them out at the Books section of theMadness . I can tell you, however, that I'm not done at all. As a matter in fact, there is one book that is certain to release by this October (fingers crossed), and I'd like to share with you all this image from it. This will be the front cover illustration for "7531". Eight short stories that will mess with your head, just how I like it. Also, I'd like to share that there's another project in the horizon. We still don't have a release date but we're working hard on what I like to call "Project Rebirth". I won't give you any spoilers, but it is something special and certainly important in my professional life. Soon I'll bring you more updates on that. On another note, many new items have been added to the merch side of the store. Check out these new t-shirts! These are all original designs and the quality of the prints and fabric is top notch. I'll keep making more of these for y'all to enjoy. Let me know down in the comments what you think of these, and if you have any suggestions for other designs, feel free to drop them there too. Click on the t-shirt to see it closer! There are many more waiting for you at theStore . Go check them out! Remember that you can be a part of theFamily by joining our community for Free! That way you can share all the love you have for the arts and crafts world with other likeminded art-lovers like yourself. Also, being a part of our community comes with many perks and advantages within #theMadness. Anyway, that's all for today, so have a wonderful week, and may all your plans move positively towards satisfactory results. Irie bless!

Hello, everyone! This past week has been filled with work. Things moving things forward. All these "things" in the oven are really making my kitchen smell great, to be honest. But non of it is ready for any sort of preamp, so let's try something... Today I’d like to take some time to introduce the team and also the Madness. This should be easy... Hello! I am Logan, the team. Logan has many sides to him and they all work together to bring all the Madness he can muster for your experiencing pleasure. But, what is the Madness? you ask. Simple! The combination of the creative and the logical to make beautiful illogicals, the balance between the brain's hemispheres and the peace that comes with it. It is swimming confidently against the current with a storm on the horizon, and nonchalantly making it to the other side in time for tea. It is how I refer to the crazy ideas that lead to beautiful results. Long story short, #theMadness is everything you will find within this site. It is truly a pleasure to have this space for all of you to mingle and enjoy. And there are many things to see and spots to visit. You see, the site is designed with you in mind, so your experience is smooth and exciting. Let me give you a small tour. On arrival, you are greeted with the latest video in a long playlist of the works I create. The books, the Illustrations, the new collections, the exclusive merch and much more. Accompanying the playlist you will also find the newest article/blogpost, so you can jump right into it and read my latest rambles. The menu is vast but resumed. Each section is well organized for easy browsing, with theMadman encompassing the Services, Courses, Contact and Stones, while in theMadness you have Books, Images and Jewelry. But there are many other pages of interest. Like Ookami with the Webcomic and the 8bit-Music. There's also theFamily, your entrance to our small but tight community of creators, art lovers, thinkers and believers of theMadness. You'll have your own dedicated profile, manage your orders, get special deals and so much more. Just like every other area, the member's only areas have been optimized so that it is comfortable to browse on a computer as well as on your mobile phone. Within theStore you'll find the most exclusive pieces from my collections, the original illustrations from my books, prints of those illustrations and other merch items. I'm certain you'll find something in there that will surprise you. For example, did you know I have quality shoes with original designs for sale? How about the original t-shirts? The embroidered patches? Go and check them out! The Books are sold on Amazon and other bookstores. Check out the dedicated area for them to know where can you find them. While newslettering isn’t exactly my forte, I must admit I’m having fun with this process. It's not easy, but to some degree it is rewarding. This week's newsletter is coming out a bit late in the day, but that's just how it is sometimes. As I continue to curate content, the format of the newsletter will change accordingly. In the meantime, thank you for reading this far. Remember to leave your thoughts down in the comments and stay tuned for more Madness to come. Irie bless!

On another note, I am currently working on the illustrations of my next independent publishing. It is scheduled to be released in October this year. It is called " 7531 " and it's a short stories book with an interesting twist to it. As I progress with the Illustrations, I'll share some of them with you all. Continuing on the literary topic, I've chosen to do something interesting with the poetry published in my book " Dimensional ". I'm going to be making a couple spoken poetry albums and recording some footage for y'all to ravel on. But at this point it's just an idea that needs polishing in the execution. So as it evolves, you will be on the know. Thus far this is what we have, so remember to stay tuned for the next newsletter or regular blog post for that matter. We're determined to bringing this community together and hope you can find a worthy tribe among us. JOIN ! This is Logan, signing out and wishing you a wonderful week. Irie bless!
- New book out now!
This is just to let you know, my dearest Madness lovers, that Ookami and the New Dawn, is now out and available on Amazon and Ubuy, and soon more retailers will join. I am very happy that this new book is out now, and it is certainly a pleasure to share it with you all. Irie Bless!
- The Land of the Rising Sun
I'm back at the workshop, making some madness for y'all to enjoy. However, the last two weeks of April, I was fortunate enough to be part of the Fusion Artistic Residency 2024 in Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun. While I would love to talk about all the beautiful things seen, the wonderful people encountered, the marvelous places visited, I rather do a small photo dump of some of the work done and link you to a 6 minute video that recaps the emotions of the trip. So, without further ado, here's what Japan had to offer. And here's the link to the video. Irie bless!
- The Path of Time
Since I arrived from Japan, things have been hectic. A lot of madness in the works that I will soon be sharing with you all. I still wish to share just a bit of what is going on right now. First off, June 6, Ookami and the New Dawn was bound to come out as a hard cover graphic novel, printed on beautiful quality full color glossy paper. But Amazon decided to delay the release, so when it does come out, y'all will be the first to know. The work with my editor has gone pretty far, and I've done two new illustrations for the re-publishing of Gaia 0. I have the new collection of necklaces on hold but soon will retake the threads and knots. I'm also working on the illustrations for a short stories book coming out in October. So, as you can see, I've been really busy. But as I ride this wave, I'm here to share the illustrations created during the Fusion Japan 2024 Residency. This is called "Jikan no Michi wa Sentakudearu", meaning "The Path of Time is a Choice". It is a 4-part illustration that visits the view of the city of Kaga from afar. It depicts the Past, the Present and 2 possible futures, a Dystopia and a Utopia. These are done in charcoal on white paper. Enjoy! Irie Bless! Jikan no Michi wa Sentakudearu
- The New Dawn, a different kind of graphic novel
It's funny to consider that my first actual graphic novel was done through such unconventional means. To think that I didn't draw a single frame in the entire book is baffling to me. But not having drawn it doesn't change the fact that I created every single frame, manipulated the stage to have every picture be perfect and to really bring out the personalities of the characters, all while dealing with the limitations of hardware and software. It surely makes for a different kind of graphic novel, somewhere fresh to have your mind travel to. The release was bound for June 6th, but it was delayed until this upcoming June 20th. I had to ensure the quality of the released product, and I'm well beyond satisfied with the final result. This is certainly the closing of a chapter in my life, but also the first steps into something interesting. I don't know how long it'll take to really complete the whole trilogy but it will surely be a work of love and passion. It's also interesting to consider that I'm using "recycled" characters... At this point, it is already a spoiler on its own, but I just love the possibility to spend more time with these characters and have them interact in ways that wouldn't otherwise be possible. To me, this is healing a great deal. It is the stepping stone to a deeper concept, a value that had eroded but is now restored and represented. It fills me with joy to see this through and to remember the struggle, the reason why this happened the way it did, the root, the teaching. Let us rejoice together :) Anyway, in case you're curious, it is with great pleasure that I invite you to read the webcomic, if you want to have at it before the book comes out. It is HERE for free, and if you enjoy it, consider purchasing the Hardcover Graphic Novel and add it to your collections, my dear madness philofiles. Irie bless!
